Power, Passion and Grace

Performance: Victoria Pathfinder Expedition, 2003
The brief given to Scott: A short play that demonstrates Power, Passion and Grace

5 people walk in at random and sit on a bench, possibly at a bus stop.
Possibly reading magazines, where the script can hide also.

Bragger 1: You know, the God I believe in is so powerful He can make it rain any time He wants to.

Bragger 2: Yeah, well my God is so powerful He can make it rain any time He wants to but can also make fire come down from heaven.

Bragger 3: Really? Well my God is so powerful He can make it rain any time, bring fire from the sky and make the sun stop if He wants to.

Bragger 4: Well my God’s so powerful He can make it rain water or fire, stop the sun and cause the stars to fall.

Bragger 5: My God’s so powerful He not only can make it rain water or fire, stop the sun and cause the stars to fall, but He actually created this whole earth, just by speaking!

Bragger 1,2,3,4: Yeah, mine too!

Bragger 1: Well my God is so passionate about us He heals many people from car accidents.

Bragger 2: Well my God is so passionate He heals people from car accidents and even cancer!

Bragger 3: Oh really? Well my God’s passion for us doesn’t just heal people from car accidents and cancer, He even raises people from the dead.

Bragger 4: That’s nothing, My God can heal people and raise people form the dead but He also has angels that protect us before we even get sick or have an accident.

Bragger 5: Yeah, well, my God is so passionate about us He does all that healing stuff and sends angels to protect us but He also sent his one and only Son to this earth to save us!

Bragger 1,2,3,4: Yeah, mine too!

Bragger 1: Well my God is coming to take us home to Heaven and says all we have to do is…

Bragger 2: …have faith & believe in him…

Bragger 3: …yes it is because of his amazing grace for us that we will not be left here to die..

Bragger 4: …no we’ll be taken to heaven to live happily ever after.

Bragger 1,2,3,4, 5: Amen!

Bragger 5: Sound’s like we all believe in the same God, why are we arguing then?

Everyone stands up as a bus/train arrives and start boarding…

Bragger 1: We’re not arguing.

Bragger 2: Yes we are.

Bragger 3: No we’re not.

Bragger 4: Are too.

Bragger 5: Oh boy, Good thing it’s by grace were all saved.
