Let the adults come unto me [Children's skit reversing the roles of kids and adults in the Bible story]

Performance: Castle Hill Seventh-day Adventist Church - May 18, 2019

[Children actors speak and act out all parts, except the 'adults' mentioned in the story]

Narrator: One day Jesus went to the other side of the Sea of Galilee and a large crowd followed Him. They followed him everywhere because they saw him healing the sick and never knew what amazing thing he’d do next. Jesus went up on a mountain side and He sat down with His disciples. Jesus saw that a large crowd was coming to Him and he said to Philip

Jesus: Go and get some bread, so that everyone may eat

Narrator: But Philip answered Him

Philip: Twenty thousand dollars worth of bread would not be enough for everyone here to even receive even a crouton each!

Narrator: Then Andrew, another of Jesus’ disciples, said to Jesus

Andrew: There is an old man here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but that is all we have a obviously isn’t enough to feed so many people.

Narrator: But Jesus said

Jesus: Have all the children sit down.

Narrator: So the disciples sat all the kids down, about five thousand boys among them. Jesus then took the loaves, and having given thanks, He distributed to all the children; and the fish too were divided up into figures and all the children ate as much as they wanted. When they were all full, Jesus said to His disciples,

Jesus: Gather up the leftover food so that nothing will be wasted

Narrator: So they gathered the food up, and filled twelve baskets with fragments from the five barley loaves which were left over from the old man's donated lunch. When all the children saw this amazing miracle, they all said,

Everyone: Jesus is truly a Prophet!

Narrator: A while later some kids brought their mums and dads to Jesus so he could lay his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples scolded the kids for bringing their parents and bothering Jesus. But Jesus said

Jesus: Let the adults come unto to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these mums and dads.

Narrator: And Jesus placed his hands on the adults heads and blessed them before he left.
